Wayne Connect is the new communication and collaboration system at Wayne State University. Wayne Connect integrates e-mail with calendars, address books, tasks, and an online storage briefcase — all of which can be shared with other Wayne Connect users — and includes powerful search capabilities and instant messaging inside an innovative and easy-to-use Web interface. Accessible from any computer and many mobile devices connected to the Internet, the system also includes full, real-time protection for spam and viruses.
The Wayne Connect Web Interface is based on the Zimbra Collaboration Suite and is hosted by the Merit Network, Inc. in Wayne State's Data Center. This means that Wayne State retains ownership of and complete control over all the data, while system administration is handled by Merit.
