WSU E-mail feature — Set an E-mail Name

Contents

An E-mail Name is just that — a name you use in place of your AccessID in e-mail only. After you set it, you can use it OR your AccessID in your e-mail address. For example:

If your AccessID is xy6789, your name is John Doe, and you specify John.Doe as your E-mail Name, you can use any of the following as your e-mail address:

xy6789@wayne.edu
John.Doe@wayne.edu
john.doe@wayne.edu

Process to set an E-mail Name

Step 1: Deciding on an E-mail Name

Step 2: Setting your E-mail Name

  1. Log in to WSU Pipeline and click Account.
    OR
Log in to WSU WebMail and click Account Management.
  2. On the sidebar click Modify/Set E-mail Name.
  3. Type the E-mail Name you want in the space provided and click the OK button.
  4. The response will tell you if the name has been accepted. If the name is accepted, you're finished. If the name is unavailable, the system will prompt you to try a different name.

Some important things to remember

Your E-mail Name is mainly for e-mail. You may be able to use it in some other instances where you would use your AccessID, but not allways.

E-mail Names are only for e-mail addresses ending in "@wayne.edu" (e.g., xy6789@wayne.edu). If you are using e-mail supplied by the WSU School of Medicine (address ends with "@med.wayne.edu"), by the College of Science (address ends with "@sci.wayne.edu"), or another WSU department or division other than Computing & Information Technology (C&IT), the AccessID E-mail Name feature does not apply to your e-mail ID.
