[From WSU Computing & Information Technology – August 27, 2007]
A new Broadcast Message Service at Wayne State launched August 1 to deliver emergency alerts and other significant messages to students, faculty and staff.
Through this service, you can conveniently choose how you want to receive WSU messages:
The first time you log in to WSU Pipeline after August 1, 2007 you are asked to register your cell phone information (if you want to receive text messages to your cell) and select your preferences for receiving emergency messages. (Wayne State does not charge a fee to register your cell phone number and send you text messages through the service. However, per-message charges from cellular service providers may apply.)
At any time, you can change or update your cell phone information or modify your choices for how you want to receive different types of messages. (Blackboard courses are now included if you want to receive messages from your instructors.)
To access the WSU Broadcast Message Service, log in to WSU Pipeline, click the "Broadcast Messaging" link under My Pipeline Links or click the "account" icon and access the service through the link there.
For more information about the WSU Broadcast Message Service and WSU Instant Messaging, another new service that is now available, see WSU Messaging Services or contact the C&IT Help Desk.
