ResNet is a high-speed computer network in Wayne State University residence halls and apartment buildings. It provides a dedicated network connection to access WSU networked resources and the Internet. The ResNet service is available to students, faculty, and staff living in residence halls and apartments at Wayne State University: Ghafari Hall, and Atchison Hall, The Towers Residential Suites, University Tower, Helen L. DeRoy Apartments, and Chatsworth Tower Apartments.
Residents in these WSU Housing buildings must follow the ResNet Usage Policy and the university policy on Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources. Violations of university and/or ResNet policies may result in a fine, the suspension or termination of ResNet privileges, as well as discipline under the appropriate resident, student, faculty, or staff due process policy.
There is no extra cost for a ResNet connection or for using the network in a WSU residential hall or apartment building.

Setting up a video game console, set-top box, or Internet-enabled media player
If you need to set up a non-computer Internet device (such as a TiVo, Wii, or Internet-enabled DVD player), you must request special access by filling out the WSU ResNet Device Exception Request. NOTE: Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) reserves the right to deny any exception request.
Free wireless Internet access currently is available in the public areas of Atchison Hall, Ghafari Hall, and University Tower Apartments. It also is available throughout The Towers Residential Suites and DeRoy Apartments.
NOTE: Personal routers or wireless access points are prohibited anywhere within Wayne State residence halls and apartments. If you find you need more network ports than you have, use an Ethernet switch.
Rogue routers are responsible for many outages on the ResNet. Residents with rogue routers will have their network access suspended and be subject to reconnection fees. For details, see the ResNet Usage Policy.
Friendly and knowledgeable computer support and reasonably priced diagnostic repair services (for personally owned computers) are available at Wayne State – and provided by C&IT. Students can take advantage of these services in the following ways:
