About C&IT Server Hosting

What is it?

Server hosting provides a way for campus departments to establish and maintain functional computing environments for faculty and staff while minimizing their own technical support requirements for running a server.

Managing the day-to-day operations and maintaining the applications, databases, and operating systems on a server can become a major portion of work done in University departments and labs.

Computing & Information Technology (C&IT) now offers a range of services for hosting and managing servers in the central Data Center, located at 5925 Woodward Avenue. The C&IT Data Center provides a secure facility with a raised floor and 24-hour network connectivity, power, and monitoring.

This page will help schools, colleges, and divisions (S/C/Ds) learn about the different server hosting services available and better determine what suits their server management needs.

Who can use it?

If your S/C/D does not have dedicated staff, physical space, or security to handle your server needs, a number of server hosting options are available from C&IT.

Is there a cost?

Basic Server Hosting service is free to WSU schools, colleges, and divisions. However, a fee may be charged for Premium Co-Location Server Hosting and Virtual Machine Server Hosting.

Where can I get help?
