WSU AccessID: What is it? How do I use it?

The WSU AccessID is a unique identification code assigned to each WSU applicant/student and new faculty and staff person. It is the key to accessing computing services and resources at Wayne State — such as WSU Pipeline, Wayne Connect (WSU E-mail), and WSU administrative systems.

No one (other than you) can use your AccessID unless you tell someone your password.

If you don't know your WSU AccessID, you'll find it on your WSU OneCard (the WSU picture ID). The AccessID is the two-letter, four-digit code. You also can find your AccessID by searching for your name in WSU's Online Directory. If you can't find it in either of those places, contact the C&IT Help Desk by phone (313) 577-4778 or using the Contact Us form.

About the AccessID …

WSU Pipeline: Where do I go for to check vacation banks and view personal info?

WSU Pipeline, at pipeline.wayne.edu, is the one-stop location for most of your online computing needs at Wayne State. You'll use it to access calendars and conferencing, check your vacation banks, check benefits, fill out your timesheet, view personal info, get to WSU E-mail, and much more.

In order to login to Pipeline, you need an active WSU AccessID, a computer with Internet access, and a recent version of a Web browser that supports Internet standards, such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari (see the C&IT Help Desk list of supported software for browser software).

Where can I find out more about Web Time Entry (electronic timesheets)?

Web Time Entry (WTE) is the electronic timesheet WSU full and part time faculty and staff use to report time worked.

The WTE timesheet is located in WSU Pipeline under the Employee tab. Go to the Employee Self-Service section on the left and click the Time Sheet link.

Detailed information about Web Time Entry is in the WSU Knowledgebase.

Wayne Connect (WSU E-mail): Someone told me I had to use it. What is it? Where do I access it? Why do I need to use it?

WSU provides its employees with a Wayne Connect e-mail account with 10GB of storage and the ability to send and receive attachments that are up to 50MB in size. The e-mail address is in the form accessid@wayne.edu (e.g., xy6789@wayne.edu). You can access your e-mail from the Wayne Connect Web interface, from WSU Pipeline, or you can use it with an e-mail program like Microsoft Outlook.

It's important that you use your WSU E-mail, or set it so e-mail sent to it forwards to your preferred e-mail address because you have a listing in the WSU Online Directory that includes your name and e-mail address. Your colleagues may find you there and send you e-mail.

Also, when setting up your e-mail, don't forget to set your name so messages coming from you have an identity.
