WSU Systems Status — what the colors designate

Selected Wayne State computer systems are being monitored by seven (7) robots located around the WSU campus.

Every 15 minutes the robots attempt to access the selected systems, and they report back to us.

The notification table on our system status page displays one of four colors that describe the robots' success or failure at accessing the systems.

Green = system is available

When the status display for a specific system is green, it means that all seven robots were able to access the system during the past hour.

Yellow = system has intermittent problems

When the status display for a specific system is yellow, it means that one, two, or three of the seven robots monitoring the system was unable to access it during the past hour. This may indicate a localized access problem. The status remains yellow until all seven of the robots are able to access the system for one full hour.

Red = system is not available

When the status display for a specific system is red, it means that all seven of the robots monitoring the system were unable to access it during the past hour. This may indicate a problem at the Computing Center.

Gray = system status cannot be determined

When the status display for a specific system is gray, it means that none of the robots are giving any reports about that system. This may indicate that all the robots are not operating.
